Since 1997 Uwe Steger has been working as a freelance musician in practically all the major theatres and orchestras in East Germany – particularly in Berlin. In other artistic engagements, he has worked with artists such as Montserrat Caballe, Ute Lemper, Katherine Mehrling, Rainer Oleak, Tobias Berndt, Daniel Beilschmidt, and Gregor Meyer.

He is also a sought-after instrumentalist in the field of contemporary classical music, performing, for example, in Das heiße Herz by Jörg Widmann under the direction of Simone Young as well as in Paradise Reloaded by Peter Eötvös under Frank Beermann.

As an endorser for ROLAND and BUGARI, Uwe Steger has also played numerous international trade shows and is regularly in demand as a guest lecturer in the United States. Various online platforms have documented his extensive and multifaceted oeuvre. Since 2009 Uwe Steger has been teaching accordion at the University of Music and Theatre in Leipzig.

Heidi and Uwe Steger studied at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin from 1987 to 1994 and on numerous prizes at national and international competitions during that time. After their studies, both were scholarship holders at the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation “Live Music Now” for several years.
