Kerstin Straßburg grew up in Washington, D.C. studied piano as a junior student and then in Hanover with Konrad Meister. She graduated in the class of Hans Leygraf at the Berlin University of the Arts. Already at this time she embarked on a wide range of concert activities. She participated in various international master classes and funding projects.

For many years she has been performing both as a soloist and as a sought-after chamber musician with various ensembles and orchestras not only in Germany but also in other European countries and in the USA. In addition, she plays an active role in the conception and management of concerts and cultural projects for public organizations and the Federal Government in Berlin.

In 2005 she founded the Max Brod Trio, which shortly afterwards received invitations to perform in the Czech Republic, Great Britain, France, China and the USA. The recordings made so far by the piano trio have met with great international acclaim. In 2016 a CD with piano trios by the almost forgotten composer Robert Kahn was released, which was nominated for the German Record Critics’ Prize.
