Timo Steininger, Horn

French hornist Timo Steininger was accepted to study with Prof. Xiao-Ming Han as a young student at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Saarbrücken and in 2002 he continued his studies at the Musikakademie der Stadt Basel with Prof. Christian Lampert and Horst Ziegler. He also studied from 2004 to 2008 at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart. Timo Steininger won two First Prizes at Germany's nationwide Jugend musiziert music competition. He was a member of the Bundesjugendorchester, the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, and the Gustav-Mahler-Jugendorchester. His first engagement was at the Staatstheater Stuttgart. Since 2007 he has been a member of the Konzerthausorchester in Berlin. He has played in renowned orchestras such as the Symphonieorchester des SWR, the Symphonieorchester des NDR, and the Bamberger Symphoniker. He has regularly performed with the Berlin Philharmoniker since 2008. In 2012 he made his first appearance at the Bayreuther Festspiele. Steininger has appeared in concert with respected conductors including Claudio Abbado, Sir Simon Rattle, Christian Thielemann, Mariss Jansons, Bernard Haitink, and Franz Welser-Möst.
