Anna Scheps, piano

Anna Scheps was born into a musician family in Moscow. In 1989 she was accepted into the Central Music School for highly gifted children at the famous Peter Tchaikovsky Conservatorium in Moscow, which fostered her talents until 1992. In the same year she moved to Germany with her family and almost immediately won a first prize in the competition Jugend musiziert.

From 1995 to 1999, Anna Scheps was a student at the Yehudi Menuhin School in London. Her teacher there was Ruth Nye, herself a former student of Claudio Arrau. While there, she was chosen to take part in the CD production “Menuhin’s Young Virtuosi” on the occasion of the great man’s 80th birthday.

She gave her first German recital in Düsseldorf’s Palais Wittgenstein when she was 13, and in the following years performed in many German cities, sometimes also as soloist with leading orchestras.

During this time she received numerous prizes and distinctions – including several public choice awards – at international piano competitions. Famous concert halls in France, Canada and Scotland were opening their doors to Anna Scheps. Both the press and the public reacted enthusiastically to her concerts in the Royal Festival Hall and Wigmore Hall in London, the Musikhalle in Hamburg, the Tonhalle in Düsseldorf and Bayreuth, as well as in the USA, Scotland and Holland.
