Jonas Palm, Cello

Jonas Palm was born in Ludwigsburg in 1993 and began playing the cello as a seven-year-old. He studied with Jean-Guihen Queyras and Conradin Brotbek at the Musikhochschule in Stuttgart and is currently pursuing further studies with Clemens Hagen at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Jonas Palm won First Prize at the German Music Competition, which includes a scholarship from Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben. He also won the Federal President’s Award (2nd Prize) at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Germany Conservatory Competition. He earned three First Prizes at the nationwide Jugend musiziert competition as well as winning several special prizes. Mr. Palm has appeared as soloist with various orchestras, among them the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Stuttgart Philharmonic, the Neubrandenburg Philharmonic, the Ludwigsburg Symphony Orchestra, Concerto Ludwigsburg, the Schüler Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart, and performed as soloist with the Youth Philharmonic of the Ludwigsburg regional district and also performed with them as soloist on tour in Greece. He has appeared at festivals in Germany, among them the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele, the Kasseler Musiktage and the Young Euro Classic Berlin. He also gained valuable insight from master classes given by Peter Buck, Eberhard Feltz, Stephan Forck, Jens-Peter Maintz, Gustav Rivinius, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, Troels Svane and Tabea Zimmermann. Jonas Palm has performed as soloist, with piano accompaniment and in a string quartet for broadcasters Deutschlandfunk, Deutschlandradio, WDR, SWR and BR-Klassik. As a two-time winner of the Deutscher Musikinstrumentenfond Music Competition, Jonas Palm plays a cello built by Paolo Antonio Testore in Milan in 1750, generously loaned to him by Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben.
