Carolina Eyck, Theremin

Carolina Eyck is one of the world’s foremost and most sought after theremin performers. She performs in concert as a soloist and ensemble musician internationally and has appeared with many ensembles and concert artists, among them Heinz Holliger, Robert Kolinsky, Gerhard Oppitz, Lera Auerbach, conductors Andrey Boreyko, Michael Sanderling, Gürer Aykal, Howard Griffiths and John Storgårds, the Radio Symphony Orchestra Berlin, the Bern Symphony Orchestra, the Essen Philharmonic, the Brandenburg State Orchestra, the Stuttgart Philharmonic, the Heidelberg Symphony, the Staatskapelle Halle, the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, the Lapland Chamber Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra (Washington, D.C.) and the Spanish National Orchestra. In 2012 she played the theremin solo at the world premiere of Fazil Say’s Mesopotamia and Universe symphonies. In October 2012 Carolina Eyck gave the world premiere of Kalevi Aho’s Theremin Concerto, the Eight Seasons, which is dedicated to her. The concerto was released on CD by BIS Records in 2014. Carolina Eyck gives workshops and teaches theremin worldwide. She has been artistic director of the Theremin Academies in Colmar and Leipzig since 2010.
