Robert Sellier, Tenor

Munich-born tenor Robert Sellier received his first voice lessons at the Bavarian Vocal Academy with Hartmut Elbert. Upon completing his Abitur, he began vocal studies at the Augsburg School of Music with Jan Hammar. He has participated in master classes with such artists as Gerd Uecker, Peter Schreier, and Rudolf Jansen, in addition to a Lied course with Edith Wiens and oratorio course with James Taylor. In 2004 he won First Prize at the Nuremberg-Augsburg University of Music Voice Competition. The tenor’s first engagements led him to the Salzburg Festival, Ludwigsburg Festival, Bielefeld, and Komische Oper Berlin. He was appointed to permanent positions at the Augsburg Theater and the State Theater at Gärtnerplatz Munich. Since the beginning of the 2013 season, he has been a permanent member of the Halle Opera. His concert repertoire ranges from Monteverdi’s Maria Vespers and Bach’s oratorios to 20th and 21st century works, including many premieres. He has sung with a number of different original sound ensembles, including the Hofkapelle München, les cornets noirs, La Banda, L’arpa festante, L’Orfeo Baroque Orchestra, and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
