Liv Bartels, Viola

Liv Bartels was born in Halle/Saale in 1985 and initially studied violin for three semesters with Ursula Dehler at the University of Music “Franz Liszt†Weimar before she discovered her love of the viola. In 2006, she changed her focus to that instrument, studying under Erich Wolfgang Krüger and Ditte Leser in Weimar, where she completed her postgraduate studies in 2016. Master classes with Larissa Baranova, Alfred Lipka, Kim Kashkashian and Morten Carlsen furthered her artistic training. As a soloist she has performed with, she has already performed with several orchestras. Liv Bartels gained experience playing iseveral orchestras. From 2011 to 2013, she was appointed 2nd Principal Viola in the Beethoven Orchester Bonn and subsequently Principal Viola at the Staatstheater Nürnberg. Since September 2014, she has been a member of the viola section in the Leipzig MDR Symphony Orchestra.
