Christophe Gördes, Artistic Director Munich Chamber Opera

Christophe Gördes, born in Munich in 1965, received his first piano lessons when he was six years old and began playing the clarinet at the age of thirteen. After studying music in Munich, Vienna, and Hanover, he first worked for Microsoft Network, where he was responsible for the areas of music and film.

Concert tours with the Bavarian State Opera and a number of ensembles later took him throughout Europe. He has collaborated with such conductors as Leonard Bernstein, Riccardo Muti, Lorin Maazel, and Zubin Mehta.

In 2004 Christophe Gördes co-founded the Munich Chamber Opera, which he has directed ever since. In addition to Germany, the Chamber Opera performs in Austria, Switzerland, and Italy.
