Jürgen Geiger was born in 1976 and grew up in a musical family in Pfaffenwinkel, Bavaria. He studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München (University of Music and Performing Arts, Munich) and completed his studies with a concert diploma in piano in the class of Michael Schäfer.

Concurrently, he obtained concert diplomas in organ and organ improvisation. Since 2001 he has been active as a church musician in Munich and Weilheim, and performs as a pianist and organist on international stages, including in the Philharmonies in Berlin, Cologne, and Munich, in the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, and in the Auditorio de Tenerife, as well as on organs and with chamber music ensembles in England, Spain, Italy, and France. Geiger demonstrates a consummate mastery of both the piano and the organ. There are virtually no limits to his virtuosity, which has developed and matured over the years. He not only possesses extraordinary technical fluency, but also remarkable empathy and sensitivity.

A Dream includes five works in which Geiger freely transcribes compositions by classical masters, arranges them, improvises around them, and expands them in a compositional sense. In these new interpretations and new creations, Geiger successfully achieves a synthesis between what has been handed down, the traditional, on the one hand, and his subjective-emotional interpretation of the work on the other.

The album also features two compositions of his own: Variations on Themes from Weber’s Der Freischütz and Tanz im Großen Saal (Dance in the Great Hall). The CD presents a total of seven first recordings—a dream of “new music” come resoundingly true.
