16.11.2016: For their recording of Arnold Schoenberg’s string quartets, the Asasello Quartet was awarded the renowned independent “Quarterly Critics’ Choice” of the German Record Critics’ Award Association. Of the nominations for the Longlist 4/2016 in the category of "Chamber Music,” the CD Insights was recognized as the best recording of the fourth quarter of 2016.

"Schoenberg's string quartets are no evening serenade. They demand a great deal of intellectual vigilance from the performers," writes jury member Thomas Rübenacker. "It is all the more striking just how natural they can also sound, dominantly playful and always directed at the listener amongst the analytical permeation. It is evident here that the all-new Asasello Quartet was trained by Walter Levin, the founding member of the LaSalle Quartet, which is familiar with new music."

The GENUIN artist Eva Resch was also praised by Rübenacker: "In the second string quartet in F-sharp minor, which becomes a cantata through the musical setting of two poems by Stefan George and an epitaph for the marriage of the composer, the soprano Eva Resch joins in. Her captivating interpretation, which does not ignore the nervous glint of the facture, completes this "new" interpretative idea."



The quarterly ‘Longlist’ of the German Record Critics' Award (PdSK) includes the best and most interesting new releases of the past three months in different categories. Evaluation criteria include artistic quality, repertory value, presentation and sound quality. The jury of the prize is made up of independent music journalists from Germany, Austria and Switzerland and is as heterogeneous as the range of musical genres and spoken productions. Per jury, five experts determine and evaluate the best new productions on the market for recorded music.
