Alexandra Ivanova nominated for German Record Critics' Award


16.4.2021: Pianist Alexandra Ivanova is nominated for the German Record Critics' Award in the category "Tasteninstrumente II" with its CD Sentiment.

Alexandra Ivanova was born on Lake Baikal, Russia. She started piano lessons at the age of five and made her debut with the Irkutsk Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of eight. She studied piano, historical keyboard instruments, and chamber music at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory and harpsichord, basso continuo, ensemble direction, and forte-piano with Jesper Bøje Christensen, as well as improvisation with Rudolf Lutz at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.

As a versatile keyboard artist, Ivanova appears regularly in Europe and Russia on the harpsichord, piano, and fortepiano, performing as a soloist as well as chamber music and continuo player in several ensembles and orchestras. Her repertoire encompasses music from more than four centuries, from the early Baroque era to works by contemporary composers.

The German Record Critics' Award (Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik) is an independent association of German-speaking critics. The PdSK is supported by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media and by the Gesellschaft zur Verwertung von Leistungsschutzrechten GVL.

The nominations are published in the longlist, the selection of the best of these CDs will be announced on May 14.
