Bach Prize winner Johannes Lang is the new organist of St. Thomas

10.1.2022: At Epiphany on January 6, Johannes Lang was introduced as organist of St. Thomas. He presented himself convincingly with an organ prelude by Johann Sebastian Bach on the Woehl baroque organ and the fugue from the Fantasy on the chorale "Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern" by Max Reger on the romantic Sauer organ in St. Thomas Church. He already got to know both instruments during the 2012 Bach Competition.

As the 2012 Bach Prize winner, Johannes Lang received a CD release from Genuin at that time, on which he recorded works by Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, Johann Sebastian Bach, Robert Schumann and Jan Esra Kuhl.

Johannes Lang follows in family footsteps as the new organist of St. Thomas. His great-grandfather Günther Ramin also held this post for 20 years before becoming Thomas Cantor in 1939.

GENUIN wishes the new St. Thomas organist Johannes Lang much success for the future!
