Christian Ridil celebrates his 80th birthday - two radio programs honor his work

On the occasion of Christian Ridil's 80th birthday on June 12, 2023, two programs will be devoted to the composer: On hr2, Christian Ridil will be presented in a portrait by Susanne Pütz in the program "Doppelkopf" from 12 noon. On SWR2, the composer will be congratulated in the program "Treffpunkt Klassik" between 10 am and 12 noon.

Three CDs with works by the composer Christian Ridil have already been released by GENUIN classics: in 2020 a CD with male choirs and solo songs with the Camerata Musica Limburg under Jan Schumacher, in 2021 a CD with chamber music, followed this year by Chamber Music Vol.2.

About Christian Ridil
Christian Ridil, born in Breslau in 1943, received a thorough education and musical training (piano, violin, singing, harmony) at the Regensburger Domspatzen music school. After graduating from high school, he studied school music and composition with Günter Bialas at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich and musicology at the University of Augsburg.

At the Goethe University Frankfurt/Main, Christian Ridil taught at the Institute of Musicology until his retirement in 2011 and conducted the university's own choirs and orchestras. Ridil has been awarded numerous prizes for his extensive compositional work.

Ridil's choral works are part of the repertoire of many vocal ensembles. His motets, choral cantatas and secular vocal music are performed by the cathedral choirs in Mainz and Regensburg, the choir of the Dresden University of Church Music and numerous other sacred and secular vocal ensembles.
